Tiffysbgirl I reckon you did the right thing to go with the bracket your ortho considered is the best choice for you. Brackets don't move teeth and as you state the clarity does have a metal slot so that it acts the same as a metal bracket, my understanding of the radiance bracket, is the slot is made of a material that works the same as metal ... so no difference.
In the early stage of adjusting to the look of having braces, we see things that other people would never see. Remember of course that most people will never notice you have braces on your teeth ... they're just not interested. The metal slot is tiny and most of it is hidden with the archwire, so for a person to see that, they'd have to be looking closely at your teeth, like you do when you look in a mirror. We are understandably consumed with our teeth and everything we see them do ... to others ... well I guess it would be about as interesting as watching grass grow.
Remember the pictures you see are a bit like looking at the pictures in magazines. They're mostly photoshopped and rarely look the same in real life.
The thin wire is the work horse of the memory archwires. It will align your teeth and get the movement going. Once it's job is done, your ortho will usually use thicker and thicker wires to do the job. Sometimes they use different shape wires and wires made of darker materials than stainless steel. There's no way you'll see that tiny piece in the bracket as you get to experience some of these different archwires.
Good luck with adjustiing to your brackets and to you seeing progress soon! :thumb;
