How many ceramic brackets Muscle ... and where they more expensive than not having ceramics?

Where I work in South Australia ... it's $5,000 with whatever brackets you choose.
We recommend upper six ceramics and the rest metal. More and more we're being asked for all ceramic, which the patient can have, as long as the bite will not put the teeth at risk of 'banging' on a ceramic bracket. |

I have ceramic on the front, top and bottom, and metal on the sides.
$6,200 (ceramic braces were $600 more than all metal) Washington (State, not DC) -- I should add that this price is what I'm paying for my entire treatment. I'm not sure how much the actual braces cost, without the price of everything else included -- Last edited by Denise; 02-04-2010 at 05:11 PM. |

It's tough to figure out what a "standard" cost should be, since the cost of the actual brackets is not the major part of the cost of treatment. Major factors that need to be included are difficulty/length of treatment, location, and the orthodontist

I'm in the DFW area and Ceramic Top with metal on the last few molars and full metal on the bottom is $4,500. I did not go off price alone, I want a pretty and healthy smile. I've dealt with one of the "chain dental" places down here and will NEVER do it again.

$5,000 for ceramic self ligating brackets - top AND bottom.
I live in northern NJ very close to NY state border. (I'm about 20 miles outside of New York City.) (In my case ceramics on bottom is permitted as there is NO danger of my bottom teeth hitting the tops because I have an open bite.) Treatment time will be 24 months. Being treated for anterior open bite, posterior cross bite and some crowding of top and bottom teeth. I've had one ortho (with like 35 yrs experience) tell me I'm a 'challenging' case and said he'd have to charge me for it. He also charged me $600 the day of my consult for xrays and molds and when I returend for my treatment plan he quoted me $8,000 for ceramic on top only and for his experience and skill. Most other orthos told me I was not an excessively challenging case and actually quite textbook. The ortho I chose took xrays and molds the day of my consult free of charge. I returned for treatment plan and the $5,000 includes everything - all appointments, as well as treatment to maintain my teeth after I am de-braced, forever. (He also uses several of the popular brands of brackets GAC and 3M and a variety of archwire brands based on the patient to include Damon.) That all being said - for me, price is not an issue. And had the ortho I've ultimately chosen charged me $8,000 or more, I would have paid it. That is how much I trust him and his expertise! Last edited by melgreen; 02-08-2010 at 02:59 PM. |

That has to be one of the all time lowest prices I've read about for NYC - which is one of the most expensive areas in the USA for orthodontia. Not to mention ceramic top and bottom. How long is your treatment? Are you getting self ligating - thus fewer appointments to ortho? Is this in Manhattan?
Even an ortho who is bound by insurance contracts typically will charge a minimum of $4,000 for a patient. They just can't afford to charge much less given overhead costs, etc. I had braces for the first time 25 yrs ago and it cost more then $2600 - I live just outside NYC in a suburb of NJ. |

Ceramic up and down costs $5k at my ortho's but he gives a discount if you pay everything up front. I tried further lowering the price by offering to pay cash but that didn't work so I charged it for cashback from my credit card
