Anyone else in braces after Weight Loss Surgery?

I'm curious if anyone is in the same boat. I had Lap Band surgery in August 2005. I have the need to chew my food very well in order to prevent vomiting or nausea due to the band. I have discovered that braces make chewing interesting to say the least at the moment. I'll adjust but was wondering if anyone had any tips for me.

Proudly braced at 31 Years Old for an estimated 24 months!

I've not had lap band surgery Carrie, but if you think you're not going to be able to chew some food, then I recommend you cut it into very small pieces so that it's safe to swallow. You may need to contact your lap band surgery and seek advice.

Chewing is an important part of orthodontic treatment, as it encourages blood flow in your gums and believed by some researchers to improve teeth movement.

Good luck and hopefully you'll find your chewing is not affected much or for very long.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
