Hole in gum after wisdom teeth removal

    Hey guys,

I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled just less than a month ago and everything went well. My gums were stitched with dissolving stitches and the stitches on my lower right came apart before the socket fully healed. Now, there is a tiny flap of gum there and a teeny hole (just big enough for a grain of rice to get stuck). There's no pain so it's not that big of a deal.

But I'm just wondering, about how long will it take for this hole to close up?
Any of you guys experience this?

The pockets are pretty normal right after you get your wisdom teeth taken out... I had the same thing I believe for several weeks at least....

I had the same issue when I had my wisdom teeth removed. I did make a quick trip back to the oral surgeon just to be sure that there was no concern. I tend to be kind of hyper about all things medical, so that visit was more for my own peace of mind than anything! The oral surgeon had told me that I could come back for a quick check after the stitches had dissolved if that made me feel better. It did!

There was no problem at all, and I was just reminded to keep it as clean as possible (without picking at it too much). I forgot about it within another few weeks, and have never had any problems since.

I had the same thing and spent literally months using various implements to get at the bits that were stuck, I thought they would always be like that. It does get better though and eventually 'smooths' over. I would get it checked out if it starts to hurt though just to make sure there is no infection.

I had all four of mine taken out as well. Be careful that you don't get stuff stuck in there and sucking in a lot of air into that hole. You don't want to get a dry socket 'GROSS' and have to see your surgeon again. My surgeon gave me a syringe that I filled with warm salt water to wash out that area after I got a dry socket and it went away about after a few months and it didn't bother me ever again. Hope it goes away sooner than later. Good luck!
