Ceramic brackets don't stain. The power chains and ligs can though. However - I use Listerine antibacterial twice a day and have never had it stain my ligs or powerchain and I have ceramic. Listerine is also what my orthodontist recommends.

No problems with mouthwash and staining my clears. I dont know what I would do without mouthwash, its part of my nightly pre-bed ritual, brush, floss, brush, mouthwash. Probably more than I need but I can help it.

Using a mouthwash with fluoride is an important part of taking care of your teeth.

As stated above, it will not stain ceramic brackets, as they can't be stained. Many things will stain ligs, but I've never found mouthwash to be one of them and I've had ligs of many shades including clear.

Sometimes mouthwash will leave behind a residue that may look like staining, but this is a good thing, as it's identifing 'things' that need to be removed. I use a tissue to wipe these from my mouth, then rinse with mouthwash again. It's important to not drink anything for as long as possible after using a mouthwash, as for your teeth to benefit, the mouthwash needs to be in contact with them for as long as possible.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
