    Hi! (:

Hey everyone, hope you threatment is going well! ^^
So, my braces got tightened today. ^^
Now she's started closing the last gap on the right side, and started moving my molars, to close all other gaps. Nearly finished!
She put some metal wire around my teeth, though. What does that do? o.o
Um.. Next appointment, is at April 13. ^^
Then, she'll put a rectangle wire, and she'll put a bracket on one of my lower molars. So she can fix the alignment of my lowers. Two of my teeth are overlapping a bit, so. I'm glad she'll fix it, since it's annoying me! xD

Also, I'll upload some pictures of my teeth this Sunday. (:

    Thanks for reading!

Is the metal wire some kind of powerchain? I'm not really sure why a metal wire would be put around your actual teeth though. Looking forward to seeing your photos, and horray for only having 4 months left on your treatment! I've probably got about 7 months left, at least. I'm doing everything I can to hurry it up though!

I remember having a ligature wire in addition to lig elastics, and it better kept the tooth right inline with the wire. I remember having these towards the end of my treatment as well.

Great that things are going well for you Latias!

Is the wire like lacing ... connecting one bracket to the next ... looks vaguely like a powerchains. This is sometimes used when some of the teeth are in the right place, but others still need work. This keeps the teeth that are right together.

If it's a wire ligature, they're used for many reason, including with ceramic brackets as they don't stain. Some ortho's use them to put pressure on the archwire in a particular way, to get the tooth to move a specific way. More and more this is being done with bends in the archwire, but sometimes a wire tie can do this job, as long as it's a minor one.

Good luck with your treatment being over very soon!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

The metal wire is connecting several brackets to eachother, so I guess it's used to keep my teeth together. (:
I do think I have an allergic reaction to it, though. I have a massive rash on my hands and face, and my gums are very red and swollen. Do you think it's a good idea to call my ortho?

If you're worried about the rash, give your ortho a call. I doubt it would be the wire, as it'll be made of the same materials as you've had in your mouth already. Maybe your ortho changed the type of gloves he wears and you're reacting to them, or maybe it's something else.

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water to help soothe and heal it. Hopefully this will get sorted quickly!

Hiya. I had these metal ties too. They were used to hold my teeth together while the archwire pulled them all outwards. I'm soooo jealous you will be getting you're braces off soon! well done.

My daughter has a latex allergy, and her ortho now only uses non-latex gloves for her. It is not too bad, but we discovered it when he gave her the first set of elastics to wear (surprisingly, the gloves were not a problem initially). Within 30 minutes her throat hurt, and she was starting to feel itchy, swollen, and quite uncomfortable all the way around. Fortunately, the ortho switched her to non-latex elastics. It was kind of scary at first, but she was fine within two days.

She found relief drinking tons of water. Maybe it helped to flush the offending substance out of her system. If you are stilled concerned, do as Sunny said, and call your ortho!

    Hope you are feeling better!

Thank you very much, good luck with your own treatment!
@Phantom Muse: Well, it seems that I had an allergic reaction to something I ate, haha.
Thanks, though, I'm feeling way better already.
I notice the last gap closing already, it's awesome!
It amazes me, that I actually have a row of teeth.. xD

Glad you are feeling better! Also good that you were able to identify the problem so quickly!

To me, the best part of having braces is when you can finally SEE the change you hoped for. Congratulations!
