The manufacturers is the main difference. Ceramic covers ice and sapphire, whereas ice and sapphire refer to their particular type of clear brackets.

As far as performance is concerned, there's no difference, as brackets don't move teeth. Brackets are bonded to teeth ... and that's what they do. You need a skilled ortho using the archwires correctly to move your teeth. Often they need help using additional bits and pieces like elastics, powerchains, power chords etc ... but it's their skill that allows them to know what to do and how to do it. Please don't allow the advertising that one type of bracket can do this or that, better than another. It just isn't possible, as brackets don't move teeth.

Once you've found the ortho you want to treat you ... and it's best to consult with a few, three being the recommended minimum number. Then ask which brackets they use. Most ortho's will have two or more that you can choose from, as ceramic brackets are now among the most popular bracket available.

    Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

    OK Questions!:

-Soooo they're basically all ceramic but something like different brands?
-Since i have ceramic brackets, does that mean i have ice or sapphire?
-Are there any other manufacturers/names of ceramic style braces?
-Is there a such thing as (or a name for) a standard/original manufactuer of ceramic braces...what im saying is, is there a common "brand" of ceramic braces that the majority of people with them have?

    Yes!

You may have one of these, or you may have neither.
[quotes]Are there any other manufacturers/names of ceramic style braces?[/quote]Yes, hundreds of others ... examples - InVu, 3M Clarity, In-Ovation, Damon Clear, Opal etc etc etc

No! This an area of huge competition due to the number of people who have orthodontic treatment each year. As a result, competition for these people's $'s is massive among the many manufacturers. One brand releases a new bracket ... and it's marketed as the latest bracket etc ... but you can be certain that by the time an orthodontist is using these brackets, another brand is being released. This doesn't look like an area where things will change, as orthodontics continues to be a growth industry, now with many adults also having treatment.
