i have got a tooth colored powerchain before . it turned orange-yellowish right after i had curry. and the stain wont come off no matter how hard i brushed. usually i would choose powerchain that is in grey , purple or even red.
Up to this point, the only powerchain that I've had was put on only two teeth (a canine-to-adjacent-premolar; it wasn't noticeable at all.) But now I just got a full-fledged powerchain (spans my front teeth; from canine to canine.) It's tooth-colored. So now I'm just wondering how well the tooth-colored elastomeric stuff holds up against stains compared to clear elastomeric stuff. Thanks.

Do they ever use powerchains with self ligating braces?
What is their purpose?

They will stain pretty much the same ... but with careful brushing you can keep the powerchain looking reasonable. Plus Denise raises a valuable point ... one we often foget when we obsess over our teeth!
Mel and Lauralea ... the powerchains used with sl and non sl are the same ... stain the same etc. Denise has self-ligating and her ortho has made great use of powerchain with her teeth. The same goes for power chord, which some ortho's prefer for certain types of movement. The main disadvantage with power chord, is that it only comes in clear ... yUcK!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
