    Cemented Molars

Does anybody else have the problem of the molar cement buildups coming off quite often? This is the 3rd time it has happened to me in one month and it is usually just one side that comes off. Is that my fault or the ortho's fault for not properly bonding it?

I don't have this problem, but make sure you ask your ortho why this is happening. We find that some of our patients wear their's down with chewing, but rarely does it come off without some help from our tools.

    Good luck!

Molar occlusal bonding doesn't generally come off, but it can if there is poor isolation of the teeth during placement or due to excessive grinding/biting forces. There are a few extra steps that can be taken by the doctor to increase the bond strength, but severe grinders will still sometimes find a away to have them come off.

    Good luck!

Mine never came off during the several months I needed molar buildups. Definitely call the ortho and let them know this is a recurring issue that needs addressed. You can't keep going in every week to have it redone *L*

Okay, so according to my ortho, I do some severe teeth grinding at night. I wonder what they'll do next to prevent this.

    Hi!
I do have the same problem too! and i actually do grind my teeth quite badly at night which i only found out after i had the cement buildup!
I'd gone for my second rebuild but now its wearing off again only after like 3 days! I realise that when i floss my teeth small chunk of cement would fall off!
