Braces round 3!

Hi I am considering getting braces again, I had them twice in my teens but two of my upper teeth have twisted out of place and have constantly annoyed me over the years. This is the reason I got my second set of braces in my teens and also a reason I’ve not had further treatment as I assumed nothing could be done.

I finally went for a consult today in and after giving my history was asked if I'd ever worn a retainer after either set of braces/treatment. My answer was no I was never even given a retainer as an option after either set braces/treatment. The orthodontist was very shocked and informed me that I should have been given a retainer at the end of treatment, otherwise the teeth will move.

The treatments I had in my teens was given in the UK, should I have been given a retainer? Is this normal practice even in the UK? I feel very annoyed that something I had to put up with for over 4 years I will now have to have again and have the privilege of paying for this time.

Hi there. I was just about to post that I am about to go on round 3 myself!

I had braces on my lower jaw only when I was 13 and then again on both jaws when i was 23.

I didnt wear my retainer post braces and now I am looking at getting them on again.

Thankfully the ortho said I would get a discount.

You definetely should of received a retainer.. the retainer is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo important post braces.
