You need to phone your daughters ortho to check. Maybe the bracket has come off and will need to be replaced, or maybe the archwire has moved a little and needs to be clipped.
Good luck to your daughter and her treatment!![]()
Hi, my daughter has just had damon braces fitted (1 week ago) and had not had any problems but today she complained of a wire at the back hurting. All the last back teeth have end brackets on except one which only has a bracket on the second from last tooth with wire continuing to the last tooth without any bracket (so there is about 1cm of wire after the last bracket). Is this ok or are all four ends of the wire supposed to end with a bracket? Thanks![]()

After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
My daughter has two teeth on her upper with no brackets. These are her baby molars that will need to be pulled out. They put springs in place to hold place for the future teeth
Call the ortho and ask maybe she doesn't have all her adult teeth yet so he didn't bracket it. But ask since eventually it will need to be removed. How old is she, mine is 14.
Good luck
None of my back molars have brackets.. I keep forgetting to ask the ortho why this is the case as they are my permanent adult teeth (not wisdom teeth)
My very back teeth don't have brackets anyway. Probably why the wires are sticking out is because her teeth have moved. When they move, the wires come out the back. That's how they can get away with not changing the wires all the time...they just continue to clip off the excess from the back as the treatment progresses. You should be able to call her ortho anytime, it only takes a second for them to clip the wires. I experienced this a lot in my first months of treatment.
Oh yes I didn't answer the wire issue. Can the ortho and they will usually take you in to clip the wire. It happens and it's no big deal. Have her put wax until you get to the ortho. Last time my daughters teeth moved quite a bit and pulled out the wire in the back. It was tearing up her cheek. But they clipped and bent it back in place.
Ksmoguy often the last (second or third) molars aren't bracketed, as there's no need to treat them unless they're impacting on your bite. These teeth are not seen when we smile ... and treating them can cause more issues than it's worth.
Talk to your ortho about your's to find out if they need treatment.
