Your ortho won't be angry, he/she gets paid regardless of what you do with your elastics. But just remember that unless you want to be in braces for five years, you need to wear your elastics. There's a reason they tell you to wear them. It's the same as going to the doctor when you're sick, being prescribed antibiotics to heal, and then not taking them. I think you should still go to your ortho appointment, and just face the ortho and tell him/her that you weren't wearing them. They may need to change your recommended elastics configuration due to how your teeth moved without the elastics. Whatever your personal reasons were for not wearing them, just remember that you're paying a lot of money for this treatment to not follow orders, so I would recommend just wearing the elastics

Toma the best thing you can do is wear them now and be honest with your ortho.

Make a commitment to following through with your treatment as it's prescribed and here's to everything going well.

toma, I know they cause pain but if you wear them all the time, your mouth will adjust faster to them, and the pain will go away. Only wearing them in sparse intervals will cause your teeth to hurt like the very first time you put the elastics on. I know how painful it can be, but try to power through it...have you tried taking ibuprofen? It will work absolute wonders for you. I take 600mg of Motrin IB twice a day in the first few days after each ortho appointment so I can get through the pain. Also, remember that pain today = the braces coming off faster. If you don't follow orders, you'll have to wear them longer

Great that you've had your appointment and it went ok toma!

When you have braces it's not expected that your mouth will look amazing, as otherwise they'd be their for no good reason. So please don't be concerned about these elastics going to your centrals. Your ortho must believe this is the only way to achieve the progress you need, so if you don't do it, your treatment will take longer.

    Good luck!

Toma, I wore elastics for several months. At first, it was weird but not painful as I think you might be describing. (Maybe I am just lucky.) I have been very diligent with wearing them as the ortho advised me to because I want these braces off. As of my visit yesterday, I was told that it was okay for me not to wear the elastics until my next adjustment in 4 weeks.

Keep wearing the elastics and sticking to what the ortho says so you will have progress.
