    Braces or surgery?

I am highly highly highly embarrassed by my teeth, and my mothers insurance covers braces 100%, but it doesn't cover an expander. We can't afford an expander which is $1500, but an orthodontist has told me that i was too old for one and i would need surgery.(I am 18). My left side aligns perfectly, but my canine tooth goes too far in my mouth and my lateral incisor goes too far out. Those are my only problem teeth, would it be easier to remove them and get fake teeth? I am ready to rip them out myself! I feel stuck because I don't have the money to go either option, but I'm hoping for someone to shed a bit of an opinion...

You have a lovely smile and one you should never be ashamed of!

At 18 it is most likely, in fact almost certain that your palate is fused. Looking at your smile, it really isn't possible to diagnosis anything, but unless one side of your mouth is narrow, the use of an expander hopefully will not be necessary. Please have consults with a few more ortho's and see what they have to say.

    Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
