Hi all!
My clear braces have been off since december of this year and my smile is great. I had an overbite with spaces between each front tooth up to my canines which have been closed and is being held together by a clear essax retainer up top. I also have a perminant "back teeth" retainer on the bottoms as well.
I have writen on here before and have gotten some help and good advice from many on here, especialy sunny. So, now we are in July and I am having trouble with my teeth despite my great smile. My front bottom teeth continuously crash against the back of my top teeth and push them forward which is making the essex retainer constantly correct the movement over and over again.
I spoke to my regular dentist about the issue because my orthodontist seems to be very passive about my concerns and continuously wants to wait till the next visit to address anything else (6 to 8 weeks). So what my regular dentist has told me is that I have an occlusive bite in the rear which is whats causing the rough contact. So basically, when my teeth make contact in front, the rear molars do not, until I bite down harder. This action presses my front teeth forward enough that when I take the essex retainer off just to eat and then put them back on, I already feel pressure on my front teeth as if they were already being pushed forward in 10 to 20 minutes time.
My regular dentist attempted to fade my lower teeth down just a bit to ease that contact. However, after several weeks, the contact was back again. At this point, my dentist said he will not fade anymore because of his concern with tooth sensitivity. Also, he said that if my teeth repositioned to continue to make strong contact with my uppers, something else must be done and that I should just talk to my ortho about this as it is not his specialty.
So, I do not know what options I have and would just like information on this type of case so I can go back to my ortho with solid information and see if I can encourage him to act quickly. I feel like all this movement with the front teeth will eventually weaken the roots of my teeth which can be dangerous. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sunny, looking for your input here as well. You always give great advice. If you need more info, I will provide. Thanks in advance
RicanMedic I can only support you in discussing this with your ortho. Maybe another call to the office to ask for an appointment at an earlier date. If that's not possible ask if your ortho can call you back to discuss your problem.
Other than that ... the next best option would be for you to consult with another ortho or two. If they come up with you needing further treatment and you choose to go with this, you will have to pay as a new patient ... but at least you will know that your gut feelings were correct.
Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
