Hey everyone
I get my braces on in less than a week. I am so excited! I have always been a teeth grinder and I have noticed that I have been grinding them more intensely than usual. Will this affect my treatment? I have woken up during the night in the past couple of days. I think it's the spacers. They are so foreign.
Anyways, thanks in advance.
Kayla

You should definitely talk to your orthodontist about this. Teeth grinding is really bad for you, but with braces you may find you do it more as the pressure they put on your teeth and jaws may make you want to clench your mouth more than usual. Probably you will need to wear some kind of mouth guard at night, but definitely talk to the doc when you go in.
Hi kaylaa ... Denise is right, you need to talk to your ortho about this. Grinding during ortho treatment is common due to the stresses often connected to ortho treatment, and also sometimes due to the teeth moving.
Good luck learning ways to relax so you don't grind.
