I'm still in a sectional wire...

Ok, I was braced on February 11, 2010 and have had about four adjustments. My appointments are every eight weeks and during the first two visits I don't recall having had a wire change. On my third visit I had my upper and lower wire changed and when I came back for the fourth visit They changed my lower wire to something much stronger because, I was having alot of issues with leveling.

My next appointment is on August 16th and I'm hoping that they put remove the top wire and finally graduate me to the full wire. I have had a sectional wire since the day I was braced and had to have two bicuspid extractions. I kind of feel like with all of the improvements my teeth have made already I probably should have not agreed to remove the upper bicuspids.

Anyhow, has anyone here been in a sectional wire for seven months. I'm not questioning the docs treatment plan but, I just wonder how all of this is going to work out. I have an over bite which will be corrected with tads and he stated that he wanted to put the tads on in the fall. Luckily, fall is quickly approaching and I'm just hoping he sticks to the plan.

I know he was going to put a full wire on the upper teeth but, changed his mind because, my teeth were moving so fast. I'm just wondering if I'm even going to need those tads.

I really can't wait to see the final outcome. I'm sure it will be worth the expense.

It's fantastic that your teeth are progressing so quickly ... and the extractions are probably the reason this is happening.

Talk to your ortho about the sectional archwire, as they can be used for many months and some people never get to have a full wire, as the sectional wire does all that's needed to correct the bite. Most people do have a full archwire at some stage and some times it's just the one and that's it.

All the best with the TAD's if you need them!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

Well, today I went in for my eight week appointment and I my wire was changed to a square one. I have no idea what that is going to do. However, I'm still in a sectional wire. In another eight weeks I'm scheduled to go back on October 11, 2010 for my impressions for placement of tads.

I guess that means after eight more weeks I will return and he will place the tads and I will have a full wire. Well that is my latest update and he has stated that my teeth have come a long ways and they are looking pretty good! I will post more pics soon.
