    Cost of Damon System??

Hi - I am 23 and had my first consultation about getting a brace this week. I was optimistically hoping for a completely discreet way to straighten my teeth. My orthodontist recommended Damon or Incognito (lingual) braces to give me the best results.

I paid £250 for this 1 hour consultation which included taking photos and molds of my teeth (but not xrays). I have to go to the hospital this week to get the OPG xrays done at an extra £30 and drop them off to my orthodontist.

My orthodontist described me as being a standard case and told me that the Damon braces would cost me £3850 and the Incognito braces would cost me £7850. I have been trying to search for other price guides on the internet to see if this sounds about right and the limited number of sites that do talk about pricing seem to be considerably cheaper.

Should I cut my losses now and find another company? I know every case is different but its so hard to find out costs without spending hundreds of pounds on a consultation. How much are other people paying for Damon Braces?

    Thank you

You're paying for the skill of the ortho. In the US, I was told by several orthos that Damon is $4000-6000 for regular cases.
Incognito is way more expensive, and most people do lingual on top, but regular braces on the bottom. Having those linguals under your tongue sucks.

You can also bargain with your ortho for a cheaper price. Try calling around to other orthos.

I'm 25, and went with normal Damon style (Lotus brand) metal brackets on the top and bottom. My cost is $3500.

To check how this price compares you need to consult with a few more ortho's and find out what they charge. Lingual brackets will always cost more than the standard types, due to the lingual brackets requiring more 'personal' work by the ortho and manufacturers.

    Good luck having more consults!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

    Hi Gina,

I am 26 and recently had a consultation with my Orthodontist about "invisible" braces as well. Initially I wanted Invisalign, but through further communication, Invisalign would not be the best fit for me. He said it would work, but I would not get the same results I would get with Damon- as the Damon system helps modify your facial features as well. I also wanted more information about the Lingual braces, but in that case, he told me to shy away completely because I guess the way my mouth is shaped, my tongue would hit the back of my teeth more frequently and I would have too many cuts and abrasions. Anywho, for the Damon Clear braces (clear on bottom AND top), my estimate (with tax, x-rays, visits, molds, etc. included) would come out to $5020, with $560 for a down payment. I'm pretty sure Damons run anywhere between $3800-$8000, so it's not a terrible price for bottom and top CLEAR. I will be getting them put on March 21st. I'm nervous but excited! The money will be worth it in the end. Good luck! :-)

I'm in the UK and was quoted £3500 for Damon/self-ligating top and bottom.

IMO what you've been quoted is about right. I did, however, have a free consult - they were offering free consults when I rang up.
Bonded retainers fitted upper and lower & braces removed at 19 months 2 weeks.

    Braces were:

    In-Ovation C on the top
    Damon on the bottom

My Damon ceramics + regular Damon metal braces cost me $5300. No insurance coverage unfortunately. Luckily I had enough in savings to put a large down payment down so my monthly payments are only $187 now. I can't wait to pay these suckers off!
