When do the gaps close over?

I've had my braces for three weeks and i have had 2 teeth out on the top row and 2 on the bottom, my question is, the front row only has a little more straightening out before the whole row is straight but i still have a lot of my gap still left to fill.
I'm just worried that i'm going to be stuck with gaps after my teeth are straight.
Even though the teeth are straight does the mouth do adjusting to fill the gaps without causing little gaps in between my teeth?

    Thanks

Talk to your ortho about your treatment plan. In most cases, after the alignment is taken care of, work is done to close gaps. How these gaps are closed depends on whether your front teeth move back, your back teeth move forward, or a combination of both.

Teeth on average move 1 mm a month. It's a slow process, but it's an important one and needs to be done correctly so that no damage is done to the roots of your teeth or gums.

    Good luck with your treatment!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

I feel your pain. I got my first gap shortly after my braces went on (last May or June). I got my first power chain to start closing the gap in Nov.ish of last year. I still have power chains and a tiny gap. So it takes time, but it's so worth it. I wouldn't trade anything for how my smile has changed.

    Thanks for all your responses.
I can't believe the change my braces have done in only three weeks... i can only imagine how my teeth will look after 2 years!
    Looking forward to the change!

All through your treatment you're going to have gaps opening and closing at random places. This is normal, as your bite is adjusting and your teeth are moving. I didn't begin to see a 'final product' until about a month ago and I've had mine for two years. Until then, I've always had some kind of small gap somewhere, but now my bite is awesome and all my gaps are closed!
