    Question Brace colour band, help??

I'm 6 days in and the colour from my brace has come off (I must have swallowed it) and the wire is half out. It doesn't hurt at all and I have put wax on it. Is this common in early stages of brace treatment or am I doing something wrong? From what I remember I haven't eaten anything particularly sticky or hard.. does anyone have any advice for me at all? Is this common? Will my orthodontist be mad at me?

How funny... I'm one year in and just had my first lig (colored band) come off, too. I highly doubt your ortho will be upset with you, especially since you're less than a week in. It could be something as simple as them not putting it on properly the first time. You know how much effort it takes to put one on and take one off... Almost impossible for a person to take one off themselves. Mine snapped off 5 times before she got it to stay on. Putting wax on it to keep it in place is great. I would give your ortho a call as soon as you can to let them know. He/she might want you to come back in to replace it. Mine is all the way in the back; and the wire is still tucked in nicely, so he may just leave mine alone.

    Let us know what happens!

Repairs and replacements are built into the cost of your treatment. Accidents happen. To help out, if you knock a bracket off your teeth, save it. They can re-attach it, instead of using a brand new one.

As long as you aren't at home removing your ligs, or purposefully breaking/modifying things, they won't be upset.

I had a friend that would use a dentist tool to remove her lig bands to get some temporary relief if her teeth hurt. That's a definite no-no.
