Hello everybody, I am new to this forum (thank God for the internet era with so much communication and information available) but let's cut to the chase now.
I am the patient, male, soon to be 26 yr old, never had teeth problems (except superficial cavities and very minor sensitivity to cold/hot/sweet. My orthodontic problem started many years ago when my baby-canines didn't fall off when my definitive canines started to grow, normally the canine started growing and followed the least resistant path, and they ended up in an abnormal position, the left one is quite ok.. has enough room to be pulled, but the right one is rotated a bit from the normal arcade line.
I went to see an orthodontist and she said to me, my problem is far more difficult than I expected, she explained to me I might be a 3rd class malocclusion, and I might need also braces for the lower jaw. Although, in my untrained eye, my lower teeth are straight enough... only minor protrusions (I hope I'm using this term correctly), I mean the lower tooth (molar 1) steps over it's upper homologue.
My orthodontist said she wants to use straight-wire technique with Hilgers brackets, 0.18. (any pro's or con's? - I'm convinced it's a fairly good system, the orthodontist is the most important).
If there are any professionals among us, and will like to share their knowledge with me (or us) please feel free to take a look at the following images (earliest baby-canine extraction - last year, upper photos in the collage, rest of them were made few days ago):
