Gray, slimy film?... Stop eating raw shark? That's a new one.
Since getting my braces I have been ever so faithful in brushing right after each meal. (Its only been 2 weeks) One thing I am noticing is that it seems like I constantly have this thin, gray, slimy film in my mouth. I use all Crest products for brushing, flossing, and rinsing. Anyone else use this and have the same problem? I just don't feel like my teeth are really "clean" when I see this gunk. If it is the brand, then I am thinking about switching. I am not going to spend all this dough to have beautiful teeth, and then when the braces come off they look gross. I never feel like my teeth are clean enough. Is this just how its going to feel for the next 2 years?

I've never had a grey slimy film, but I did change my usual toothpaste due to the feeling that my teeth weren't totally cleaned. I now prefer to use colgate with peroxide and baking soda, except for at night when I use sensodyne whitening toothpaste.
Maybe try a different toothpaste and see how your teeth feel. Also talk to your dentist when you have your six month check up, as they might be able to recommend something.
Good luck!![]()
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
I sometimes get a slimy film and I can really notice it after i use my purple mouthwash because the film then turns that color. Not sure where it comes from or how it got there. I never really questioned it, just picked it out and good to go! lol
