will my ortho think im rude just for having a consultation?

hello. my first consultation is on friday. im quite nervous. i plan to visit a few orthos to get different opinions. will the ortho think i am rude at the end of the visit when i say 'ill get back to you?'.

and if i decide in a few months to go ahead with that first ortho do i require another consultation with him again or do i just call back and say ill go ahead with the treatment we planned half a year ago? lol

The way it worked for me, after the first consultation they brought me in and went over the different treatment plans they wanted to do (depending on what type of braces I wanted) and then told me when I was ready to book an appoinment. The treatment plan information they gave said that it was good up to 6 months and then if i choose to go with them again after that, I would have to do the consultation and x-rays all over again. I ended up not getting another consultation because I felt really comfortable, and they said exactly what I wanted to hear.

I really don't think that they will think you are rude. You are entitled to different opinions. In my opinion, if they don't like that you want another opinion then what are they trying to hide?

I am sure that they expect to you get more than one opinion. I did, and when I made the choice of who I was going to go with, I just called them up, and we got started right away. In my consultation there were x rays taken, an examination by the ortho, and he went over with me exactly the course of action he wanted to take. He had a treatment coordinator in the room who jotted everything down on a chart, and filed it away. So when I called they just pulled out my file and we were good to go. This was just my experience. I am sure every ortho is different. Good luck in making your decision.

I met one dentist a year and half ago for Invisalign. But I moved from that town. So my dentist here had an orthodontist visit once a month. I met with him, he showed me some Damon samples, and I agreed to do it and signed up.

I lucked out.. because I called around afterward to get some information from other orthodontists in town, and it turned out the other 3 don't do self ligating brackets like Damon. And I didn't want to do that anyway.
