    Is this normal?

Okay so I have been in braces since February and just had a power chain fitted on my upper teeth to close some gaps. The chain was fitted yesterday and the gap has already reduced to HALF its size over night *very painful might I add*

I was just wondering is this normal? My teeth do seem to move quite fast as I've only been in braces for 4 months and they are already completely straight... I can post pics if it helps.

    Thanks

Powerchains exert a lot of pressure in the beginning and considerable movement can be achieved quickly. Then progress will settle, so that the bone can reform and care for the roots of those teeth and your gums.

On average teeth move 1 mm a month, but during the alignment phase it can appear to be much more and during the later phases it usually appears to be much less.

Good luck with your progress continuing!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
