Can I have your opinons y'all!?

So i'm getting my braces on july 12th, its June 18th today.

I was quoted that i'd need them for 18 months only. But my teeth are pretty bad.. I'm going into gr11 next year. And i really wanna get them off before I graduate. What do you guys think? BE HONEST WITH ME PLEASE.

Also I dunno if this helps but at my consultation I heard them saying something about a class 3 or something like that. Anyways, take a look at the pics and tell me what you think! I'm also gonna start using some crest white strips before I get them on whats your opinion on this?( i really dont wanna have discoloration when i get them off)

Hi Mojo and it's great you're soon to start treatment.

It's impossible to give any real ideas without your x-rays, but looking at the photos you've included it appears your main issues are alignment and as this is the first stage of orthodontics, it's usually sorted quickly and within a short period of time.

Your second photo looks like you have a class III bite. This means that your lower teeth are showing as biting in front of your lowers. This photo doesn't show much of class III, but as I can't see your molar connections, there's no way of knowing for sure.

Hopefully your treatment will be finished well ahead of your graduation!

About the whitening, I'd recommend you wait until after your treatment as this is when your teeth will be at their best. Before starting orthodontic treatment it's recommended that patients have their teeth cleaned by their dentist/hygienist. Good luck with that!

Hey I am getting mine on the 12th too!

Yours look a little worse than mine, and I was quoted 12-18 months. It sounds like you've got about 2 years before you graduate, so if you were quoted 18 months, that even leaves a little extra time.

Oh okay, thank you so much! But since my parents already bought the box of whitening strips, would it be a bad idea to use them? I also heard that it can affect the bondig glue from braces or something .

Well, they're not ON yet, right?! It's usually advised that you don't whiten while braces are on (because it can weaken the bond and also leave yellow squares when they're removed).

But if it makes you feel better, you can send me the whitening strips and I'll use them before MY braces go on... Those things are expensive!

heheh, well my dentist said it should be fine. And I already used a set of strips today ! yea they were 50 bucks!

In my opinion, skip the whitening strips. You're only cleaning the exposed areas of your misaligned teeth. As they move with your braces, new parts of the teeth will be exposed... and by the time anyone can see anything, it'll all be discolored, etc.

As far as getting your braces off by graduation.. only time will tell because too many factors effect the treatment time.

i think u should do it its really worth it beleive me , for me i got now nd i dont care if i didnt get them off before graduation ...anyway if askin me u i'' tell u should do it
