    Torquing

Hi all, I am at the stage at which the ortho uses the same wire and torques it every adjustment. Supposedly, the wire moves the teeth all the time, if everything is intact right? Then why do I only notice movement of the teeth after every adjustment, and little to no movement in between the adjustments?

Please talk to your ortho about your concerns.

The archwire sounds like it is being tweaked, which means it will move the tooth/teeth until those teeth move to where the wire is tweaking them. This is why you won't (and shouldn't) have movement all the time.

    Good luck with your treatment!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

When the wire kgoes in, you feel pain and look at your teeth a lot more.. plus its a new wire, so it's a lot stronger at first and will exert more force. As you get closer to your next adjustment, the wire weakens and exerts less force, so you still get movement, but smaller movement.

It's kind of like watching a pot of water boil.... it sure goes slowly. You see your teeth multiple times a day and so you don't notice small movements and changes. But if you take a picture today, then compare it to a photo you take 2 weeks later.. youll see changes easily.
