I'm sorry. That really does suck. This might not be possible to align and fix, and the gap might be permanent.
I am in my braces for 21 months now. Just doing last minute fixings. I am wearing rubber bands to align my midlines. Only problem is, the rubberbands pop easily and makes it difficult for me to keep them on 24hrs as ordered. I am a nurse and while at work, last thing I want to do is put my hand in my mouth to reapply rubberbands. Since March I have been trying to align the midlines and nothing has changed. I have been to the dentist 4 times to complain about this and they've done everything from shaving some on the bottom, to changing the type of rubberbands I use. Im just frustrated at this point because now i am even seeing my upper gap slightly opening. My next visit is July 18 and I am on the verge of just telling them to remove this foolishness. Im discouraged![]()

Contact your ortho's office as there may need to be some adjustment needing to be made to the hooks so that the elastics don't come off so often.
Sometimes the midline cannot (or will not) be changed and as this is a minor part of treatment, due to it not being visable ... unless you clench your teeth with your lips spread open to smile. Good luck with you being thrilled with your final outcome!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
Thanks. I'll try thinking positive I guess.
