I brush my teeth everyday when I get ready in the morning, or anytime I have to get ready to go somewhere, and an extra time when I'll be spending time with the girlfriend.

And by "what does it help in?", are you asking what the benefits of brushing your teeth are? Well it prevents gum diseases, other infections due to bacteria, nasty plaq, and prevents bad breathe.

I'd assume everyone here would brush their teeth, if not, i'd suggest start doing it

I brush three times a day, bad teeth run in my family so I am doing everything that I can to keep mine healthy as long as I can. My grandmother had dentures at 23 and I did not want that to happen to me, so far so good!

I am also a 3 time a dayer. I brush after breakfast, after lunch, and then again after dinner. I am dedicated to taking care of this smile that I have now and would hate to have to have something happen to my teeth just for lack of brushing.

you brush three times a day! wow!

Well, this may come off as a little shocking to many of you..but there were times in my life where I didn't brush for months!! yeah yeah, I know. luckily for me, my teeth didn't seem to have suffered any long term damage..I just had some gum problems. It was a phase where I was completely detached from everything else..lol

I usually brush my teeth twice a day i.e. in the morning and before bed. But when I got braces I used to brush after every meal, but yet times when I'm lazy I used to wash my mouth with mouth freshener or warm water.

Well, I brush my teeth twice a day, but I am braceless. I will probably do twice a day when I get my braces, and after lunch mouthwash or something. Teachers aren't exactly sympathetic and won't let you skip their class to go brush your teeth

    spacers

I just got my spacers put in today. They didn't really hurt much in the beginning because I took to Tylenol before the procedure. A few hours later, I was in so much pain. My head was pounding and my throat hurt. Tylenol really helped me try it.

Ok, Relax. Braces are easy to deal with. If you can't bite down with your spacers in just call to see what your orthodontist says. What color to get for your braces? I recommend the first time you stick with an easy color- your favorite color. If you have any other questions just PM me I would be happy to help.

I brush my teeth after every meal if I eat at home. If not I rinse with water and brush when I get home. You should be brushing your teeth a minimum of 2 times a day. Prefered 3 times a day after every meal. Brushing your teeth helps to rid of plaque which can lead to gum disease, cavities, infection, etc. You should also floss once a day and visit your dentist every 6 months.
Good oral health is very important so get good habits now.

Ya spacers are really the worst part of the treatment... I think it is because they move the teeth so fast so you can get into your braces treatment...

Don't worry the rest is pretty much cake and just a process... you'll love the end results and it will all be worth it...

I find I need to brush with electronic brush like braun using the regular tip for general cleaning and second time with the small tips to clean between brace and teeth. That prevented stains.

When I was braced, I brushed twice a day and swished with water after every bite of food I ate. I also flossed once a day and water-picked once a day.

Now, after braces removed, I still brush twice a day and floss once a day. I have always been afraid of the dentist (love my dentist now!!!!!) but as a kid I got it into my head that if I took impecable care of my teeth, I would never have anything scarey at the dentist...worked for me! No cavities until I was 28. Both of my bros have had many caveties so has my husband. None of them brushed regularly as a teen or young adult.

I hate to sound dumb, but what do you mean by "regular tip" and "small tips?" I only have a Crest Spinbrush Pro, but I guess I'd like to know what's out there because I've only had my braces for like a month and so am still using the same toothbrush as before. It all feels SO overwhelming!! ANY advice is SO appreciated!

PS I saw the recent thread about flossing (http://www.bracesreview.com/forums/g...ng-braces.html ) and I ordered a sample of those brytonpicks that the thread referred to. I hope it makes flossing eaiser!

See Oral-B Power Brush Heads Towards the bottom of the page you will see the Power Tip and the Ortho Brush Head.

The BrytonPick is a great product, and I really do like mine. But it is not a substitute for flossing, as it cleans only between the teeth and not up under the gumline.

oh. well then that stinks, cause isn't that the POINT of flossing? To get up under the gumline? I had imagined you could get it between the tooth and gum also. ::sigh::
