Amount of teeth that show when you smile???

    Hey everyone
I have a question. When your teeth are pushed backwards , do they automatically become lower?. Like for example, i have bimaxilliary protrusion. i have all 4 first premolars out. My upper and lower teeth are angled. my upper is like \ and ortho wants to make it straight plus push my front 6 teeth back so my profile moves back. One thing i noticed with my teeth (before braces ) is when i smile naturally, only like half of my teeth show. It's hard to explain. You know how when people smile all their teeth show (up to their gumline). As for me, my gumline doesn't even show , not even a tiny bit. Only like the lower half of my teeth show.
As my teeth are pushed back and straightened from \ to |, do they automatically become lower? meaning more teeth show when i smile? in terms of the teeth height and my smile line?? In other words as teeth are straightened (if at an angle) and pushed back, are you prone to more gum showing /more teeth showing??) thanks.

What you are referring to is known as relative extrusion. In other words, to close the space in the anterior, the teeth can be tipped inwards, whereby the edge of the tooth will appear lower in the mouth. If your teeth start of proclined, meaning tipped forward, then this will likely happen.

If your teeth had the correct tip, then you will want them to come back at the same angulation while the space is closing.

As the lips retract during profile retraction, your lips will likely sit lower on your teeth, since the lip is not as stretched out forward.

There are ways to extrude the teeth further, but there may also be limitations based upon the location of the jaw bones, thickness of the lips, elasticity of the lips, etc.

@diegorgeous, you described my exact situation. I just had 4 pre molars removed 2 days ago, one tooth that sits above the rest will fill in one of the gaps, but to close the other one they want to make my \ bent teeth more like |, my lips would likely appear less full too.

Not sure exactly what your question is here, but I doubt there is any treatment you can do without spending money.

My teeth have pale on them. I clean them regularly but they couldn't become white. I feel guilty while smiling. Suggest any treatment or dental cream for this.
