    Elastic issue + Questions

    Hi everyone

So I haven't really been blogging my braces progress since I've been on this forum but I'm happy to say that I finally got my elastics a month or two ago now!

I have an odd configuration this month - I forgot to ask what they do, so I'm curious if anyone has had this before. I haven't seen this before.
They form a triangle from my my top lateral (tooth next to my top front teeth) to my bottom second last molar and two from the middle teeth down the bottom!
So, looking at me, I have a triangle (not an upside down triangle). Sorry for the confusion I don't know the technical terms :P
But I have an overbite. Full time wear. Pretty inconvenient for a snacker like me!

I'm also in power chains, if this is any indication on where I'm at in my treatment.

Ive been having a bit of a problem because my elastics on one side keep flicking off in my sleep! They are a bit harder to keep on because there is no hook on that brace. It's really annoying because I feel like this is going to really stuff up my mid-line.
I haven't been able to notice any changes in my teeth since elastics though but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

So my question I guess is...
Has anyone had this configuration before and know what it is supposed to achieve?
Has anyone had this issue with one side of their elastics falling off? Any suggestions as to what I should do?

    Thanks

Sounds like the elastics are trying to pull your top teeth and bottom teeth together for your bite while moving your top teeth back to meet your bottom ones to correct your overjet. One of the most important things to do is ask about what the elastics are supposed to be doing so that you can understand why you're wearing them. We find that our patients are more likely to wear them and wear them properly if they know why they're doing it.

    Thank you for the response!
I'm wearing them properly anyway - I have no reason to question my ortho.
I think the response I got was to fix my bite but I'll be sure to ask them to be more specific next visit so I know what to look for.

I was more worried about the fact the elastic on one side of my mouth keeps falling off in my sleep!
