dentist extracted wrong teeth for brace!

So this is my story. I have my braces for about 2 years now and had 4 teeth extracted, the gaps closed up pretty well. Just recently i realize that the dentist extracted two of my top canine teeth and two bicuspid teeth on the bottom, which is unusual. so i went ahead and ask my orthodontist why did they extract my canine teeth but he told me that they actually extracted four bicuspid teeth and my canine teeth are still there. By the way, the dentist and orthodontist work at the same place and they might be related in some way. Now I'm really confuse, did they really made a mistake and try to hide it or is there something wrong with my old photos, but we all know that photos don't lie. I want to hear about your opinions. thanks!
P.S. the reason why it took me this long to find out is because i trusted my orthodontist. I didn't do any research or question him before extracting my teeth. He recently recommend me to extract my wisdom teeth and i did some research online and found out about my canine teeth.

If your photos show that your canines are definitely missing, then it's definitely something to talk to your orthodontist about... but also bear in mind that if you have flat canines (like me) from wearing down your teeth, you might be confusing them with non-canines.
