    Crest health pro wash

I've been using this mouthash for a while and I'm convinced it stains your teeth. I did a search and there some to be others with the same complaints but most of the threads date back to 2009.

Anyone else notice some browning/yellowing after using this mouthwash? I went for a cleaning today and some of the brown marks didn't even scrape off which has me worried.

Crest, Listerine, and Oral B (And I'm sure many other popular brands) test on animals. Don't give a shit yet? They all use pork fat in their tooth paste and mouthwash.

    ^ Um, wow. Okay, well...

Yes, it contains Stannous Fluoride, and tells you right on the bottle it may cause staining. It will, and it should be able to be removed by your hygienist. We've discussed this topic here before, and it even prompted me to include a photo of my teeth and how bad the staining actually WAS.

I was NOT using Crest in that photo, as I was on prescription mouthwash with a much higher percentage of the chemical; However, it DOES go away with routine cleaning, and honestly- it's a great product. My gums were in such bad shape from lack of proper hygiene and after a single deep cleaning and a strict mouthwash compliance kit- my teeth and gums have never been this healthy in my adult life.

Don't worry too much about it, if it was a bad product it wouldn't still be on the shelves :)

PS- I use Crest Pro-Health twice a day and have been for nearly a year. I also drink iced tea 2x a day. I brush 3-4x a day and use Baking Soda once a week to keep mine white :)

Yes certain mouthwashes can stain the teeth, one in the UK is Corsodyl.

A while ago I found a website talking about certain mouthwashes staining the teeth and Crest pro health was one of them

    Quoted from the website:

A small percentage of people experience brown discoloration of their teeth due to the ingredients.

Cetylpyridinium chloride is the common ingredient in some over the counter mouthwashes. Some of these mouthwashes include Cepecol, Scope and Crest Pro-health rinse among others. Like Chlorohexidine this ingredient is also know to cause temporary staining of your teeth.
So the two main ingredients that stain the teeth are Cetylpyridinium chloride and Chlorohexidine.
Braces were fitted in late 2010. Still currently in braces.
