I'm not sure how long will take, but you shouldn't wear 2 rubber bands on each side unless your ortho tells you to, I tried doing that to speed up the process and it just made it worse! Good luck :)
So yesterday I got these rubber bands (4mm). My ortho. Said it was for a class 2 overjet and that I have to wear them on both sides 24/7.
Age: 16
Braces: almost 2 1/2 years ( was supposed to have them on for 1 1/2 years) :(
My question is how long is it going to take for these rubber bands to fix my overjet ?
If I wear two rubber bands on each side will it make any difference?

It depends on the severity of your overjet. I think your ortho will be the best person to answer this question. I personally was in Class II elastics for over a year, but yours could only be for a couple months.
And I agree with laurenxo. Don't wear 2 rubberbands unless your ortho tells you to. You could cause overcorrection, extra gaps, all kinds of issues if you deviate from your ortho's plan.
Good luck!
Each case is unique. I've been wearing mine since January so I'm at 8mos of wearing them 24/7. Last month I was told to double up, but do not do this unless your Ortho tells you to. It may seem like it will speed things up, but on the contrary, doing so may cause your treatment time to be even longer. If I had to guess, it seems people are in them a minimum of 6 months but being you're already a year late, I certainly hope you don't have to wait that long. :(
I can understand using elastics for an overbite, but how can they benefit an overjet? I would have thought that the actual braces would fix the overjet.

I'm not an Ortho, and its more complicated than I can type lol, but basically from what I understand...Braces align your teeth. Overjet is when your top teeth overlap your bottom teeth horizontally, whereas overbite is the vertical overlap. Once teeth are aligned, elastics pull teeth as a whole, thus reducing the overjet :)
