    Urgent help with pain

    Hello,

So I got my braces adjusted last week and since then the wire has slowly moved around for some unknown reason to the point where there is a gap between the last two brackets on one side of my mouth and on the other there is a large bit of excess wire digging in to my gums causing pain. Now the problem is that I am going abroad on holiday tomorrow morning thus do not have time to schedule a emergency appointment to get the wire adjusted. I also do not have any dental wax and I doubt that would help anyway. I have tried pulling the wire away from my gums but it wont budge and just snaps back in to place digging in.

Has anyone got any suggestions? Is it fine to leave the wire digging in for a week if I can deal with the pain? It doesn't hurt too much but is kind of irritating.

Thanks a lot for the help, I hope I receive some replies before tomorrow morning!

You need it cut and/or readjusted. Simple as that. If you cannot get to your ortho (I would just walk in on my way to the store etc and they cut it), then you're gonna have to deal with the pain for the week you're gone. Buy some wax at the store-they sell it everywhere, and see if it helps even a tiny bit. Its not gonna get better, only worse, and you will get cuts that turn into painful blisters. Good luck

Yep I agree with BlondeAddiction. You can buy it at any store... Walmart, Walgreens, Target.. etc. Otherwise you are going to have to deal with that pain until you can get your orthodontist to cut the wire. :-(

You put the rubber band on the top hook, pull it straight down to the two bottom ones and hook it on making a triangle
