Hi. I am wondering if anyone has experience with having traditional braces put on after having internal resorption in a tooth. Several years ago, I had internal resportion on my front top tooth (tooth number 9). It was fixed with a root canal, and has a large filling. The filling is holding up, so the dentist never crowned it. He did say, that years down the road it could need a crown.

Well, this leads to my question. Now, years later, I am thinking of getting braces. I have severly spaced top teeth, and an overjet. At my consulatation today, my ortho told me that she could treat me. She, however, said she is a little concerned about this front tooth. She said that with the previous internal resportion, braces could lead to more resorption, and root problems. She said there is a very slight risk of losing the tooth if this were to happen. I had two other consulations, with different orthos, before todays and neither one of them mentioned this as being a possible problem. Does anyone have any experinece and/or wisdom with this?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!
Laura
