Natural bar soap was used by our ancestor ... so of course it works.
The modern toothpastes may have a few chemicals in them, but in general they are easier to use, due to there design. Bar soap would be a nightmare for most of the members of this forum, due to this forum being for people having (or had) orthodontic treatment. Most modern commercial soaps contain as many (if not more) chemicals, than toothpaste. So unless you're keeping to the naturally made soaps, you will not find many free of glycerin. Also if you use soap that is fragrant, unless this is natural and in a fatty soap, there will be chemicals needed to bind it.
The amount of fluoride in toothpaste is not dangerous to most people and instead it has been found to provide protection for our teeth.
Using a toothpaste and a soft toothbrush, can ensure that you don't have plaque.
Taking loads of vitamin C may help and if you overdose, your body will pass it through in your urine ... a huge waste of money. Calcium is important for the growth of teeth and our bones ... but large amounts of calcium is not good as our body does not work so well with that, especially if it's without the necessary amounts of vitamin D and iron.
