I spend a bit of time shopping (*cough* shopaholic! *cough* lol) and I've been noticing recently an increasing number of these portable stall type booth places appearing in the middle of walkways in shopping malls around the place, for teeth whitening.
You literally lie there in the chair, in front of everyone who walks by and glances over, while these people (I assume they're dentists, but who knows!?) whiten your teeth.
How very odd.
I've never seen these in south aussie ... must check Sydney out when I'm there next month.
whitening toothpastes don't actually whiten, but they can remove the most recent stainig on teeth. We recommend whitening toothpaste for our adult patients. This helps keep the exposed area of their teeth mostly stain free, as we also get them to have their teeth cleaned in the week prior to having their brackets bonded.
The gels can work quite well in your own home, although it's important to remember that these products will cause sensitivity, so be careful following all instructions and making sure you don't whiten around a time you're planning to drink or eat very cold or hot foods.
The best (and most expensive) is the whitening provided by specialist whitening providers.
As for these places in shopping centres ... I think I'd be wanting to know more about what they're using, sensitivity and results before I risked the teeth of anyone I know.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
