Length Of Time Between Braces Adjustments
Well, this top has been debated quite a bit and it is really depends from orthodontist to the next. In most cases the clients are seen every four to six weeks to get an adjustment such as power chain replacement, tightening, bracket repair, etc. The orthodontist usually likes to allow enough time to go by for the previous updates to peak and then plateau.According to our users in the braces forums, their orthodontist is extremely swamped and schedules adjustment appointments upwards of eight weeks. We have found that this is “usually” too long, and can delay your treatment. However this varies from case to case. Each person is different and some need the full eight weeks before another adjustment can be made. Sometimes you may go in for an adjustment at week four and no changes are made since you are not fully where you should have been from the previous adjustment.
In any case four to 6 week adjustment intervals are the norm, and do the patient quite well. When looking for the fastest braces treatment, you can ask your orthodontist if you can go in for adjustments every three to four weeks. Again, the effectiveness of this interval varies from patient to patient.
Like all medical and dental treatments it is best to discuss all the options with your medical professional. If you find that your doctor is not cooperating and maybe too busy for the personal attention you would like, keep looking as there are several orthodontist in major cities across the world.
