So, I went back today for my final consultation with the orthodontist before getting my braces put on. It's all a go and so in just under two weeks (October 25th), I will be getting full metal uppers and lowers. He said that he still thinks the total treatment time will be 2 years. "Don't kill me if it turns out to be 26 months instead of 24!" he said.

Fast forward to September 7th, I have now had two consultations with two different orthodontists and have decided to forge ahead with treatment. So,
