This is the age of technology in Orthodontics. No aspect of clinical practice of Orthodontics is left untouched by recent advancements which allows people of all ages gain the benefits of straight teeth, comfortable bite and a beautiful smile. The earliest examination is recommended by the age of 7. This however does not mean that treatment must begin at that age. Often, it is just an evaluation of need at that age. People into their 70s and 80s too are today getting orthodontic treatment to improve their life. Some of the advancements include: 1. Digital Radiographs and I-Cat: To get the best diagnosis on where the teeth are positioned in the jaws. 2. Self Ligation Brackets: Allowing for faster treatment, cleaner mouths and reducing the need for extractions 3. Invisalign: Clear aligners as an alternative to braces used in a sequence to straighten teeth. 4. Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs): Used to eliminate the use of Headgear and make very difficult treatments possible.
