Teeth Pulled For Braces?

When you visit an orthodontist for a consultation you may find out that you don’t have enough space in your lower or upper jaw to straighten your teeth proper.  In these cases a single tooth or multiple teeth may be pulled out.   The opinion from orthodontist to the next one may vary and in many cases you will not need any adult teeth removed for dental braces.

However, in most cases your wisdom teeth should be extracted before getting braces on.  Once your wisdom teeth come in, they have the potential of crowding your surrounding teeth and thus manipulating the pretty job the braces did by straightening your teeth.  While it is not mandatory to get your wisdom teeth pulled, more and more orthodontist is requesting it for this reason and also for good hygiene.

An orthodontist can usually find spaces to work with to straighten your teeth even when the teeth are overcrowded.  You will want to get several opinions when an orthodontist recommends you have teeth pulled or you are a candidate for jaw surgery for an overbite or underbite.

For those that have had adult teeth pulled for teeth braces, many users are happy with the results and claim you cannot tell at all that teeth have been pulled.

If you are worried about the pain from getting teeth pulled, you can be certain that many inpatient oral surgeons of local anesthesia and then pain killer medication afterwards.  However even without the medications we have found a lot of users to say the procedure was relatively pain free and just mild discomfort a couple days.  We recommend you get your teeth pulled on a long weekend so you have time to recover.
