    Cool 30/46 Update Pics!

    Hello everyone.

I am now up to tray 30 out of a total of 46. I have been using acceledent since tray #3. I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I am really looking forward to seeing how much more improvement I'll see with these last 17 trays. Today I decided to look at the pics I took when I first got invisalign and it really made me realize just how bad my teeth were lol. teethbad3.jpgteethupdate1.jpg

Bump! tray 41/46 now. Almost done! Acceledent has been amazing. I started treatment in April of this past year and my improvement in 10 months has been "astonishing" according to my ortho. I've switched trays every 7 days with minimal pain. I'm hoping I won't need any refinements but I'm preparing myself in case I do. Trays 44 - 46 say "overcorrection" on the packaging.

    Wow! Great progress :)

It's up to your ortho whether you'll do overcorrection or skip it and go to refinements. I ended up having to do the overcorrection on the top, but not the bottom, trays.

Hello All. I'm looking for a little advice. I am now on tray 44 of 46. This is my first of 3 overcorrection trays that will close out my initial treatment. I have an ortho appointment this coming tuesday and I am considering telling him that I do not want refinements and just want to be done after tray #46. Considering how dreadful my teeth were one year ago when I started this process, I am beyond happy with my results, though I don't believe my teeth will be 100% perfect after tray 46 (or maybe they will?) I am expecting he will want to do around 8-10 refinement trays? I just don't think I want to do another 2 months of this. Any advice/help is appreciated. Thanks! :) 2015-03-14 12.52.26.jpg

It's 100% up to you where you want to stop treatment. As long as your bite is aligned properly, then your ortho should honor your request. I stopped my treatment after having 24 trays in my initial round and then 22 trays in refinements. I was just done. It had been nearly 2 years of treatment. My teeth aren't 100% perfect, but they're 98% the way I wanted them and I'm fine with that. My bite lines up again (I had a crossbite) and my smile looks so much better. No more overlapping front teeth!

So, have a discussion with your ortho and then determine what's the next best step for you.

Looks like your lower incisors are still not aligned. While there has been a significant improvement aesthetically, getting them signed up properly will have an impact on the health of your gums and teeth. They are also in a position where they are more likely to relapse, since there are teeth with either side not touching another tooth.

You have paid for your treatment and gotten this far. I'd keep going a bit longer :).

I agree with Dr. Tam- I am now 2-1/2 years into my treatment and am so glad that I persisted for refinements. You've invested this much time and money already- keep going! You're almost there!
