Teeth are feeling a bit rough?

I got my braces off about two months ago (and I'm still excited about it, haha. :D)

The glue is gone (my dentist even commented on how thoroughly the ortho got the glue off) but even after a cleaning/polishing, my teeth are feeling a bit rough. A very close look revealed a lot of little scratches and nicks that really look like my ortho accidentally scraped my enamel with that... spinning metal disc he used. The rough feeling reminds me of before I had braces, when I could feel plaque on my teeth by the end of the day, but now no matter how much I brush, it doesn't smooth out.

I'm just wondering if any of you know how to smooth off the surface of my teeth? I asked my ortho and he seemed confused. My dentist offered to do another cleaning/polishing, but I'd have to pay extra. It just bothers me. My teeth feel dirty. :/
