In severe underbite cases, surgery and braces are usually needed, however we have seen some pretty severe under bites fixed with braces only. Most orthodontist that don't specialize in this treatment will immediately refer you to a surgeon. We recommend you get as many consultations you can until you find an orthodontist that can see your underbite resolved at least 75% with the use of braces. While it may not come out perfect, the slightest adjustments can be huge in the appearance and functionality of your bite.
Ibraces have been used in treatment of underbites, but again you are going to have to find an orthodontist that is confident in using this method. In many cases the doctor will use iBraces on top and then traditional metal braces on the bottom.
