Wearing A Retainer Post Braces

When your braces come off, it is absolutely crucial that you wear your retainer 24/7 for as long as your orthodontist advises.  The job of the retainer is to hold your teeth in position once the braces come off.

In situations where there was a lot of correction while wearing braces, users have said they’re teeth have shifted for the worse by not wearing their retainers once the braces were taken off.

There are a few different types of retainers available now, but the most popular is the full retainer that fits over your teeth with a wire.  These types of retainers can be adjusted as necessary as time goes on post braces.

Once your braces are off you are by no means done with your treatment.  The orthodontist usually still want to see you back regularly until he/she is satisfied with your treatment and you do not have to wear the retainer all day.

In most cases the orthodontist will tell you to wear your retainer at night once you have settled in a few months post braces.
