What Kind Of Braces Should I Get?

Depending on budget and your confidence in wearing braces will determine the best type for your case.

We prefer traditional metal braces in most cases as they are very durable, highly used, and fit the budget of most parents or adults with braces.   Although metal braces have been used for several decades, they still do the job just as well if not better than the new technologies on the market in invisible braces.

If you are looking to have orthodontic treatment that goes unnoticed by family, friends, and peers, than you should look into the various forms of invisible braces and lingual braces (brackets that go behind the teeth).

Lingual braces have been known to cut up the surrounding areas of your mouth a bit and be uncomfortable, however this form of braces is relatively popular among celebrities and spokesperson around the globe for their invisible appearance while still working the same way traditional braces do.  It is also common to have lingual braces on the upper row of teeth and then traditional on the bottom row.

Invisalign is another form of braces that will quite a bit more costly than traditional forms of braces.   By using clear retainers or aligners, teeth shift with each new aligner given until the results are optimal.  The average cost of Invisalign can get into the several thousand dollar range, so if budget is of importance, than you may want to avoid Invsialign.

In any situation do you research and find the best dental braces option for you, by getting more than one consultation.  Orthodontists usually do not charge too much if not free for the consultations, so you don’t have much to lose.
