Will A Broken Tooth Be Treated At The Emergency Room ER?

It is very common for a person to break a tooth in sports and accidents.  It occurs every day.  On weekends, one may not have access to their dentist for an emergency case. Seeking out the ER is usually not an option.  There are not dentist on staff to treat your case and they will most likely just give you a pain reliever type medicine to hold you over until you can get to your local dentist.

We recommend you try to stay out of the ER unless it is absolutely necessary.  Not only does this help patients that are their for true life threatening emergencies, but also will help out your wallet.  A trip to the ER without insurance can be expensive no matter the situation.

With all that said, there are emergency dentists available.  You can find them by calling your insurance company or by doing a search in our dentist directory.   These dentists are on call 24/7 and are available to treat you on holidays and odd times.

In summary it is not a good idea to go to the emergency room for a broken tooth.  You will most likely be told to go to your dentist and if they prescribe you medication or give you treatment for the pain it can be costly.
