Will Braces Stain My Teeth?

Many misconceptions about braces are that the glue will stain the teeth once the brackets are taken off.  In rare cases a tooth may become stained, but it is usually from not being able to brush the area that is covered by the bracket.

During treatment, you should be brushing, flossing, and rinsing with a mouthwash 4x the normal.  After you eat is critical so that you do have leave sugars or other foods in the braces.

When the brackets come off the Orthodontist uses a tool to get all the glue off the tooth.  Some orthodontist will follow up with a cleaning, but it is not necessary.  The area of significance is to jump right into the retainer once your braces are off.
