Will My Teeth Move After Being Straightened by Braces?

In many research studies, it has been proven that teeth may shift due to age and health conditions.  In substance abuse user cases, crowding of the teeth can be possible.  As people age their teeth may also shift.

Upon getting your braces taken off, there is always the chance that your teeth may shift.  The braces were acting as a lock to hold the teeth in place and this is why wearing a retainer post braces is so crucial and cannot be stressed enough.

Your retainer is made from the molds of your teeth upon getting the braces off.  They act as the exact replica of where your teeth were at their straightest state.  By wearing the retainers your teeth are held in position.  Over time your Orthodontist will recommend that you only need to wear the retainers at night, however if you notice your teeth are shifting during the day, then it is advised to try and wear them partially in the day too.

Whatever the case may be, it is possible your teeth can shift.  However with post braces procedures in place you will find out the tricks of the trade to make them stay put.
