Wisdom Teeth Pain

If you haven’t had your wisdom teeth pulled out than you may feel some discomfort and pain as they come in.  Most dentist and oral surgeons recommend that you have each wisdom tooth taken out as they are usually more problems than they are worth.  It is hard to give them proper hygiene as they are in the far back of the mouth.  This bad hygiene can spread to the other teeth.

To avoid wisdom tooth pain, it is best to consult your dentist to have some x-rays taken.  If your wisdom teeth are coming in straight are relatively problem free, you may decide to leave them in.  Getting the out is quite costly, at an average cost of $400 per tooth.

Once you go through the procedure of wisdom tooth extraction, you have a couple weeks of recovery while the pockets heal.  Depending on how the teeth are extracted will determine your amount of discomfort.

In some cases the tooth lies on a nerve, and the oral surgeon will not want to go near it as it can cause problems with the senses in your face.  In this case, parts of the tooth can be extracted, or it will just be left alone.  There are some instances where the surgeon will risk the removal, especially if the tooth is causing quite some problems to the patient.

If a client is wearing dental braces, the braces are usually never appended to the wisdom teeth.  You can still have the wisdom teeth extracted while wearing braces.  If you are wearing Invisalign, the patient is asked to remove the retainers during surgery.
